A scheduled Marilyn Manson performance in the UK is drawing sharp criticism and protest from local political figures—most notably from Conservative councilor Matt Robson of Newcastle. The controversial shock rocker is slated to play the O2 City Hall in Newcastle on November 14, 2025, as part of his comeback tour following years of legal battles and public scrutiny over abuse allegations.

Political Pushback Amid Controversy

Matt Robson, a Conservative representative for North Jesmond, has openly expressed his disapproval of the concert. In a statement to The Guardian, Robson emphasized the inappropriateness of allowing an artist with such a controversial history to perform at a public venue: “There is absolutely no way a man accused of such horrific crimes should be performing at a publicly-owned venue like City Hall. North East women’s organisations have raised concerns about the show, and I fully support their calls for this to be cancelled.”

The protest stems from multiple allegations of abuse against Manson—whose real name is Brian Warner—by various women, including actress Evan Rachel Wood. While Manson has denied the allegations, the fallout significantly impacted his career, leading to the termination of his record deal and roles in TV series.

The Show Must Go On?

Despite the pushback, there has been no official cancellation from the venue or Manson’s camp. The artist recently announced his return to touring, joining forces with Five Finger Death Punch and Slaughter To Prevail for a North American leg before heading to the UK and Europe. His booking at O2 City Hall marks one of his first major solo appearances in the region since 2019.

This situation raises broader questions about public accountability, artist rehabilitation, and freedom of expression. It remains to be seen whether the council’s protest will gain enough traction to force a cancellation, or whether the show will go forward as planned.
