In a statement shared via the band's social media on May 15, Kinney addressed fans with a message titled "THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE WTF?"
Kinney expressed gratitude to fans affected by the sudden cancellations, acknowledging the disappointment and inconvenience caused. He shared that he experienced a range of emotions upon receiving medical advice to refrain from performing, humorously outlining the five stages of grief he went through: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Ultimately, he recognized the importance of prioritizing his health, stating, "The good news is that I'm going to be fine and I'm going to live. The bad news (for some of you?) is that I'm going to be fine and I'm going to live."
The band's tour, which was set to include performances at festivals such as MMRBQ, Sonic Temple, and Welcome to Rockville, was canceled following Kinney's medical emergency during soundcheck at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on May 8. The band emphasized that while the issue required immediate attention, Kinney's long-term prognosis is positive.
As of now, Alice in Chains' next scheduled performance is at Black Sabbath's farewell concert in Birmingham, UK, on July 5, 2025. The band has not announced any additional tour dates or plans beyond this event.
Fans have expressed support and well-wishes for Kinney's recovery, and the band has conveyed appreciation for the understanding shown during this time. Further updates will be shared as they become available.
